Falcone supports the High Line

June 26, 2009

Some people build castles in the sky. Others build parks. The High Line Park, built on the ruins of a former elevated rail line on Manhattan's west side, opened in early June with funding from a slate of who's whos, including Phil Falcone of Harbinger Capital Partners and his wife Lisa. The couple donated $10 million to the park in a reportedly spontaneous gesture at a gala to honor major donors. While Joshua David, founder of Friends of the High Line, thanked Diane von Furstenberg and husband Barry Diller for their $10 million contribution, Lisa interrupted to match the sum. "I guess I can skip through the part about matching the pledge," David reportedly said.
