Carlyle Asia Growth Fund Raises $1B

Carlyle Group has raised $1 billion for a new fund targeting investments in smaller Asian companies, Financial Times reports.

Carlyle Group has raised $1 billion for a new fund targeting investments in smaller Asian companies, Financial Times reports. The size of the Carlyle Asia Growth Partners IV fund is nearly 50% bigger than the previous Asia growth fund, which closed at $680 million in June 2006.

About 40% investments in the new fund came from new investors, with 50% of all money provided by government pension funds and financial institutions. Commitments from investors within Asia and from Latin America have also increased for the fourth fund.
