Sandalwood taps Robert Wood Johnson Exec. Mihir Meswani for institutional push (Magazine Version)

February 01, 2010

In a move to attract institutional investors, Sandalwood Securities is hiring from the same talent pool.

Sandalwood, the Roseland, N.J. firm that manages $1 billion in credit-focused funds of funds, recently hired Mihir Meswani, formerly the director of public market managers at the $8 billion Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, which is dedicated to improving health care in the United States. Meswani is now the chief portfolio strategist at Sandalwood and co-manages Sandalwood's funds of funds with Joan Larson, head of manager research.

The firm is also considering whether to build on Meswani's equities expertise to create a fund that would primarily invest in long/short equity managers, though these discussions are preliminary.
