SAC's Stevie Cohen donates Zamboni to private school

March 24, 2010

The rough and tumble trader makes a smooth move.

The beneficiaries of Steven Cohen’s latest act of philanthropy are pretty close to home. The SAC Capital Advisors founder has donated his ice-rink resurfacing machine to the Rye, N.Y., private school attended by his daughters.

The hydraulic Zamboni machine was previously used to keep Cohen’s personal outdoor ice rink in tip-top condition. It will now be used by Rye Country Day School to care for its indoor rink. Jonathan Gasthalter, a spokesman for Cohen and SAC, declined to comment and an employee of the school said she was unable to provide additional information.
