Eric Cohen was head trader at JAI Capital, which was founded in June 2009 by Michael Takata of Soros Fund Management and Michael Ryan of Credit Suisse.

Eric Cohen, head trader at JAI Capital Management, which was founded by an ex-Soros Fund Management portfolio manager and a Credit Suisse executive, has left the firm. Cohen could not be reached for comment, and his future plans could not be determined. JAI declined to comment.

Cohen joined Michael Takata of Soros and Michael Ryan of Credit Suisse in late 2008, and officially launched JAI Capital Partners, a global opportunistic long/short fund, in June 2009. Prior to JAI, Cohen was head trader at Scout Capital, a long/short value-oriented fund, for nearly four years. He graduated in 1991 from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Before co-founding JAI Capital, Takata managed equities at George Soros’ firm from 2006 to 2008. From 2004 until 2006, he worked at Pequot Capital as a managing director. Before that, he was a partner at Ulysses Management. Previously, he managed a global long/short portfolio at Odyssey Investment Partners.

Ryan headed up Credit Suisse’s global securities from 2007 to 2008, where he oversaw equities and fixed income. Before joining the Swiss bank, he spent 18 years at Goldman Sachs. From 1995 to 2001, he ran Goldman’s convertible and derivatives business. Then he oversaw the Asian equity markets division. From 2001-2003, he was co-head of global equity derivatives, and from 2003-2007, was co-head of the global equity products group.
